Career Colleges Ontario appoints CEO, Christopher Conway

CEO appointment brings fresh direction to Ontario’s association representing 240 career colleges and their students.

BRANTFORD, ON, Dec. 3, 2018 – Today, Career Colleges Ontario announced its board of directors has appointed Christopher Conway as chief executive officer. Conway has over 20 years work experience in regulatory, advocacy, government relations, communications and general management. Previous to this role, he has spent the past eight years as president of an industry association, which includes three years as president of Concrete Ontario.

“The association has excelled in recent months at fighting for the equitable treatment of career college students and a level playing field for our more than 240 member institutions across Ontario,” said Board Chair Adrian Sharma. “With this fresh change in leadership, and considering the expertise Conway brings to the table, we are looking ahead to a fairer, brighter future for Ontario’s career college students.”

Conway was selected following the formation of a hiring committee consisting of board members established earlier this year. As a result of its search, the committee presented a number of options to the entirety of the board, and the board voted to appoint Conway as chief executive officer.

Conway will bring with him a repertoire of experience, including full budgetary responsibility, implementation of strategic plans, staff management, IT management as well as dealing extensively with legislative and regulatory issues before municipal, provincial and federal governments. In addition, he served on numerous public and private stakeholder groups as well as other not-for-profit boards and industry councils.

Conway is looking forward to working with the CCO board and members on issues of importance to the industry.

Conway has been a spokesperson for the past 12 years, with media experience going back over 16 years. His experience also includes having been a panellist and speaker at numerous conferences in Canada and internationally.

Conway holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as well as the Institute for Corporate Directors (ICD) not-for-profit governance program. Conway is fluently bilingual in English and French.
