BRANTFORD, ON, May 21, 2020 – As Ontario and healthcare authorities consider easing provincial restrictions put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19, more than 600 career colleges campuses across the province will prepare for the possibility of continuing their on-campus training in some capacity.
To support these institutions in the event healthcare officials deem it safe for students to return to class, Career Colleges Ontario has published a guideline for reopening Ontario’s career colleges. This guiding document empowers career colleges with practical considerations that institutions can implement to help keep students, teachers, and staff safe on campus and prevent the spread of this disease.
The guidelines place the safety of staff and students as its top priority and recommend a blended approach to program delivery. Many programs require on-campus, in-person training and assessment prior to graduation, including the personal support worker program that supplies more than 4,000 vital PSWs each year through career colleges, alone. The guidelines call for a blended learning approach that allows for a combination of online and on-campus training that allows institutions to minimize exposure for students and staff.
“It’s vital that colleges take a careful and measured approach to reopening their institution and are equipped with the resources to protect their communities,” said Career Colleges Ontario’s CEO, Christopher Conway.
