CCO Awards 2016: Outstanding Graduate in Health Services

Recipient: Jacob Teschke, triOS College Business Technology Healthcare.
When Jacob Teschke enrolled in the Physiotherapy Assistant program at triOS in 2013, he was nervous. He had already tried his hand at university and college, with little success. “Before attending triOS, I always struggled with school, studying, and never thought I could be successful in anything,” Jacob explained. However, he credits his teacher for recommending that he volunteer in the community to get a firsthand look into his future career.
Jacob volunteered at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare in the Complex Continuing Care unit. As a full-time student, this allowed Jacob to apply what he was learning in the classroom to the workplace under the guidance of experienced healthcare professionals. Enjoying his training and finding a passion for his work, Jacob made the decision to extend his studies and enrol in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
“I have had instructors say that rarely have they taught a student with more respect and professionalism displayed throughout all his work and activities,” wrote Ann Zakoor-Miller, Windsor Campus Director.
Jacob graduated as the class of 2015 Valedictorian and, thanks to his experience in the community, quickly found employment as an Ambulation Assistant at the Windsor Regional Hospital – Ouellette Campus.
